Memorial Day

Jakob had a great first Memorial Day.  It was beautiful weather so we went swimming and attempted to take our first bike ride; however, it was taking too long to hook up our new bike trailer, so we opted for a standard walk instead.  Managed to get a picture in the new bike trailer anyway!

Maryland Visit

This weekend, Jakob had his first plane ride to go visit his great grandpa and great aunts/uncles for the first time. Jakob did pretty good on the flight, fussing only the first and last 5 minutes.   He had a great time with Pappy and everyone.  Friday night was a get-together at Uncle Rick and Aunt Betty's house so he got to meet Uncle David, and cousins Carrie and Danielle (and future cousin, Karl).  Saturday, we got a tour of the area and history of Pappy's roots.  Jakob enjoyed the tour so much, he slept the entire time. :)  Saturday, he got to meet his Great Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Betsy.  The flight home was pretty easy as well, with Jakob sleeping.  Unfortunately, he came down with hand, foot and mouth syndrome when he was in Maryland (being exposed at daycare earlier in the week), running a fever and developing a rash but he was still mostly a happy baby.  It was a great weekend!

Adios G-Button!

After nearly 7 months with hardware attached to his stomach, Jakob said "Adios" to his g-button today!  Yippee!  Mom took off work so she could spend the day playing with him and he seemed to be doing great!  As an indication that he was ready to get it out, he flipped over in his crib this morning and made crawling motions.  He should be on his way to crawling now that he doesn't have the button in the way!

Mother's Day

It was a great Mother's Day!  Jakob made it very special by getting me a petunia on Thursday in a special homemade pot (from daycare).  Today he got me a sweet card and rose bush to plant outside.  I won tickets through work for the Cardinals game so we had a last minute change from our original plans and took Nana and PaPa to the Cards game.  It was Jakob's first game!  Despite being during his naptime, he was great the entire time and enjoyed looking around at all the action.  He had a great time playing with Nana and PaPa and munching on a hot dog bun.  What a fun day!

NICU Reception

Today Jakob went back to his old stompin' ground at the NICU for a reception and revealing of the new tribute wall.  Although we didn't get to see any of his nurses, we did get to see Maggie from Heart Prints who was so happy to see him.  His name is not on the wall yet but it will be added to the Giraffe board, where he spent the first few weeks of his life.

Pajama Day

Today was Pajama Day at Jakob's school so we dressed him in his rubber ducky outfit.  Mom took him into school a little later so she could see all the other kids dressed in their pajamas and his teachers in theirs.  Everyone looked great but Mom was definitely partial to Jakob's outfit. :)

Pool Time!

Yesterday (May 6th), it was a steamy 92 degrees and Jakob took his second dip in the pool. He liked it slightly better than his first dip on April 1st.  He managed to last 5 minutes in his raft.

Monkey Time

We were out at the mall on Saturday and I couldn't help snapping this picture of Jakob being a little monkey at the mattress store.  He thinks it's funny to put his hands and feet through his links.  He is such a happy little guy!
